SUMMARY:Purple Sunday – Domestic Violence Awareness Sunday
DESCRIPTION:\n\nToday we proudly wear PURPLE to honor the survivors, remember the lost, and offer opportunities for healing to those in need.\n~~~~~~~~~~~~\nOctober is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). During DVAM, victim advocates, allied professionals, survivors of abuse, their loved ones, and the surrounding community come together to mourn the lives lost to domestic violence, celebrate the progress that has been made to end this epidemic, and connect with others working to create change. This tip sheet provides suggestions on what individuals and organizations can do to help raise awareness of domestic violence using the hashtag #1Thing to demonstrate that everyone can play a role in bringing about change.\n\n\n\n\nEvents to raise awareness of domestic violence and its impact on individuals, families, and communities take place throughout the year. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), victim advocates, allied professionals, survivors of abuse, their loved ones, and the surrounding community come together to mourn the lives lost to domestic violence, celebrate the progress that has been made to end this epidemic, and connect with others working to create change.
